Every young person's journey is unique, which is why we offer personalized mentoring in multiple settings. Our community-based program connects mentors and youth in the places they live and play, while our site-based program brings that same personalized approach directly into schools.
Community Based Mentoring
It doesn’t take much to greatly impact a child's life. By showing up consistently, for four hours each month, you can help to decrease depression symptoms, increase self confidence, and encourage higher educational goals for your mentee. Forming these relationships and expanding a child’s horizons can be one of the most rewarding experiences.
Unlike other mentoring programs, we don’t have a waitlist of children. Instead, we intentionally match the mentor and the child based on interests and experiences. Hoping to be matched with a child that likes to paint or play sports? With the help of school counselors, we work to find that perfect match.
You can create the schedule and get to plan each outing! Our matches engage in a wide variety of activities—from playing sports and creating art projects to baking, cooking, hiking, and reading together—all while working toward individualized goals.
Commitment: 4 hours a month, for 18 months
Requirements: Complete a background check, interview, and one hour initial training
Site Based Mentoring
Your consistent presence can make all the difference. Just 30 minutes a week during the school day gives a young person reliable support exactly when they need it most. Through regular connection, you'll help a student build confidence, develop new skills, and know that someone believes in them.
Our site-based program brings mentoring directly to the school—no transportation, no weekend commitments, just meaningful time together during lunch, recess, or study periods. We carefully pair mentors and students through collaboration with school counselors, considering personalities and common interests. Whether you connect over chess, crafts, or conversation, we'll find a student who's a great fit.
Meeting at school makes everything easier! Choose a weekly time slot that works with your schedule and spend it however supports your mentee best—playing card games, practicing skills, exploring creative projects, chatting about goals, or enjoying outdoor time on campus. Every match focuses on what that individual student needs to thrive.
Commitment: 30 minutes per week during the school year
